Russia intends to reduce the import dependence and cultivate cotton personally

Russian Industry and Trade Ministry website said that Russia intends to use the new technology grow cotton textile industry in order to reduce Russia’s dependence on imports.

Russian Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry on Wednesday held in Astrakhan cotton industry development prospects meeting that cotton cultivation and processing areas of development needed to support the national and local levels, including the provision of fertilizers, seeds, advanced agricultural technology.

Russia’s textile industry is currently 100% of cotton fiber needed to rely on imports. 2012 Russia imported cotton fiber 90,000 tons, in 2020 Russia’s textile industry was required to reach 200,000 tons of cotton fiber.
